Born in Pordenone, Italy, Balsamini relocated to Los Angeles in 2008 to pursue studies at the Brooks Institute, later joining David LaChapelle’s studio in 2010 as a studio assistant and archivist. After receiving a BA with honorable mention the following year, the practice expanded to include teaching photography at IUAV University of Venice, alongside an ongoing exploration of technology and its social implications, with particular attention to labor as a form of identity. Personal and editorial projects have developed through collaborations with institutions including MIT, NASA, Charité University Berlin, and the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the University of Zurich. His work has been exhibited at the Triennale di Milano, MAXXI, the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation, and the Italian Cultural Institute in San Francisco. He is currently based in Milan and London.
